What qualifications do I need to learn to fly?
If you have a genuine desire to fly and are of average intellect, have a basic understanding of mathematics, hold a motor vehicle drivers licence you can learn to fly under the Recreational Pilot Licence criteria.
If you can pass a Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) Class 2 Medical requirement training for the General Aviation Private Pilot Licence can be undertaken.
Pilots pursuing a professional career will need to have a Class 1 Medical, which includes satisfactory testing in audio and ophthalmic medical examinations. These are conducted by Designated Aviation Medical Examiners prior to any extensive flying training commencing.
How long does it take to learn to fly?
Students progress at different rates in the areas of theory and practical training. Be wary of schools that guarantee you will reach a particular standard in a set period of time or progress at your own pace, enjoy your training at a pace that you can absorb and afford.
Note: Gippsland Flight Center endeavours to bring their students to the required standard at the minimum cost, but will not sacrifice safety for the sake of a little more training.

The cost is dependent on the type of flying, and the level of licence and type ratings required. We are available to discuss the individuals requirements so that a suitable course can be structured to suit your needs. Keep in mind that flying training is a team effort between the student and the instructor. A student is free to postpone or re-structure their course at any time. Gippsland Flight Centre is flexible and adaptable.
